- Are my images uploaded anywhere?
- No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using the canvas API. The image is read from your device, processed locally, and downloaded again — nothing is ever sent to a server.
- Which format should I choose?
- WebP gives the smallest files at the same visual quality and is supported everywhere modern. Use JPEG for maximum compatibility with older tools, and PNG only when you need lossless quality or transparency — note PNG won't shrink from the quality slider, only from resizing.
- Why did my PNG barely get smaller?
- PNG is lossless, so the quality slider has no effect on it. To reduce a PNG's size, either cap its dimensions with the max-width setting or convert it to WebP or JPEG, which use lossy compression.
- Will compressing reduce the image quality?
- Lossy formats (WebP and JPEG) trade a little quality for a much smaller file. At 70–80% quality the difference is usually invisible on screen. Lower the quality slider for smaller files, raise it if you notice artifacts.
