- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. The watermark is drawn onto the image entirely in your browser with the canvas API. The original file never leaves your device, and the watermarked copy is generated locally when you download it.
- Why would a freelancer watermark an image?
- To send a preview before payment. A tiled 'DRAFT' watermark lets a client review the work and approve it without giving them a clean, usable file they could take and run with. Once they pay, you send the unmarked version.
- Can the watermark be removed?
- A visible watermark deters casual reuse but a determined person can attempt to edit it out, especially a small corner mark. A tiled, semi-transparent watermark across the whole image is much harder to remove cleanly. For a guarantee, don't hand over the real file until you've been paid.
- What format is the download?
- The watermarked image downloads as a PNG so the text stays crisp. If you need a smaller file afterwards, run it through the image compressor.
